NY Senator Kennedy Announces Certificate of Still Birth Approved

June 17, 2011 – Senator Timothy M. Kennedy (D-58th District) announced the State Senate and Assembly have passed legislation to create the Certificate of Still Birth (S3111B). Currently New York state only offers a certificate of fetal death which leave a family to feel the life of their child is not acknowledged. This new legislation will help those families feel the recognition of their child’s life by offering the option of receiving a Certificate of Still Birth.

The original bill was first introduced in 2003 and after a lot of hard work the legislation has now been sent to the Governor’s desk and is awaiting his signature to be passed into law. Once made law a mother will have the option to receive a Certificate of Still Birth or a Certificate of Fetal Death.
