A Life Not To Be

We worked so hard to get pregnant at 40 with a donor. We were so excited when four tests showed positive. We were telling everyone our joyful news. We were looking at cribs and baby clothes. We were happy.

56 hours later we were told that miscarriage was imminent. Two days later we were no longer pregnant. Those 56 hours of hope and happiness were the most wonderful moments. Too short, too close, too much.
